The biodiversity, environmental sustainability and good stewardship of our natural resources inform our every action.
Our native breeds are well suited to our land, our ancient hay meadows are species rich, our woodlands are a riot of bird song, and our lakes are pristine. Our old orchards have been restored, our hedges re-planted our riverbanks stabilised, and our woodlands are a mix of managed and wilderness... and we are not done yet. Ongoing management and work schedules are always looking at opportunities to improve what we do and how we do it.
We breed quality and correct pedigree Shropshire and Ryeland sheep and we usually have breeding stock available for sale.
Shropshire Sheep
The Shropshire sheep is an excellent multi-purpose sheep; known as the sheep that won’t eat trees (And they REALLY don’t) they are excellent for grazing orchards and other tree plantations and replace the need to strim the weeds and grass between the trees. They are good mothers, easy lambers and straightforward to handle and finish on grass. The small holders sheep of choice.
Ryland Sheep
The Ryeland sheep is the original teddy bear sheep and was developed by the Monks in the middles ages near Ross-on-Wye. They are bred for our landscape and do extremely well on our farm. The Ryeland is the basis for the merino sheep and has superb wool quality. We use the beautiful wool for our blankets and have both coloured and white Ryelands. The sheep are docile, easy to handle, good mothers and easy lambers.

We have bees!
Lovely, busy, healthy bees. They live in our orchards and pollenate the trees.
We do not take much honey from them, but we will take from them when the winter is done, and food is plentiful again for them.
It is important for their immune system that they eat their own honey.
We sell beeswax, furniture polish and candles.

We have re-established our old orchards and, holding true to our philosophy of native and traditional species, we have planted a mix of sweet, bitter-sweet and cooking apples as well as eating pears and perry pears. Our varieties are predominantly old varieties and some are quite rare and unusual. The trees are very well established now and during the winter months we have maiden trees for sale. Unless specified, these are grafted onto M25 root stock to produce a large standard orchard tree.

Please contact us for more information and to find out what varieties are available.
